Technical Information

The CopyStation doesn't just duplicate disks.

While a beginner can start copying disks on it straight away, its easy to use menu system allows access to a number of useful tasks, including:

  • Copy Disk
Copies one source disk to ten destination disks. All destinations are formatted and verified if required. This task will copy just about any format of disk, including those used in logic analysers, oscilloscopes, and even knitting machines! If a fault on a disk occurs during a copy process, that disk is rejected at the end of the copy operation, allowing all the other good disks to proceed to completion.

  • Multi Copy
Copies up to 5 source disks to 5 different destinations. Useful for duplicating a set of master disks. This operation takes approximately the same time as copying a single master to ten destinations, and errors are shown in the same way.

  • Flash Copy
Copies only the used portion of a disk - This method can give a tremendous speed advantage when distributing a disk which contains a small number of files.

  • Format Disk
Formats up to eleven disks using a 1.44MB or 720KB standard DOS compatible format with a bootsector. You will never need to wait for your computer to format a disk again when the CopyStation can do 11 at a time! Some customers use the CopyStation exclusively as a formatter, often to reformat factory reject disks.

  • Check Disk
Checks up to eleven disks for DOS readability. Errors are shown at the end of the check. This is a fast and efficient way to check that a set of disks have been formatted.

  • Compare Disk
Compares a source disk against ten destinations. Errors are flagged at the end of each cycle. Once again, some customers use the Copystation exclusively for verification, as an independent backup to a larger duplication machine.

  • Directory
The CopyStation will display the root directory of a DOS compatible disk - useful if you are in the field and don't know which disk is your master!

  • Analyse Disk
The CopyStation will give a basic analysis of track 0 of any disk, showing the density, number of sectors per track, number of bytes per sector and the start sector on disk.
